Cynthia Miller, Glass Artist

After receiving a BFA from the University of Illinois, Cynthia Miller studied copper enameling with Richard Loving at the Art Institute of Chicago. An MFA from Northwestern University in 1978 completed her formal arts education. In recent years, Miller has experimented with expanding the scope of the abstract and natural themes in her compositions.

Cynthia Miller is an Arizona glass artist working in a medium few others have mastered: fused glass enamel fired onto copper. Based in Tucson, she has spent decades developing the process behind her work, layering glass and metal through repeated kiln firings until each piece captures the color, texture, and movement of the natural world.

Her work is held by private collectors and appears in public and commissioned installations, and she works regularly with interior designers and art consultants sourcing original pieces for their clients. Because every work is handmade and one of a kind, no two are ever alike.
